As a reminder of how sweet summer was – garden with kids in hammock. I do spend time in this hammock myself, listening to garden sounds and smelling garden smells. Mown grass is the best smell ever – even better now that the mowing is taken over by a small robot. The grass has never been greener or more grassy – even though there are weeds in it still.

According to a book about gardening I’ve been reading it is an unrealistic idea to have weed-free grass. A grassy lawn is just too attractive an environment for all kinds of plants – the best we environmental-friendly types can hope for is that grasses will dominate our lawn. Which they do in mine!  It is of great help that Robby the robot mows according to a strict regime, where I myself was very irregular in cutting it.
