Stof tot nadenken
Beating an early retreat at Casco allowed me to go to the Centraal Museum to visit the Alexander van Slobbe exhibition. Having been interested in fabrics for the longest time, this was a treat. The man is a genius! He is able to construct his clothes to drape and fall around the human body in a seemingly simple way, but he has signature style nevertheless. Inspiring stuff – wish I were allowed to touch things, though. Had an illegal quick hands-on with a beautiful lightweight woollen coat, could not help myself ….
Was reminded of a teacher at Tractie who used to complain that my work was so frighteningly well made & finished – go look at this exhibition and think again, my friend.
