Van Eyck at Durgerdam
Van Eyck’s playground at the Durgerdammerdijk I was familiar with – just never made the connection. Compare pics of the site as was around 1950 (the black and white ones) with the ones I took yesterday (coloured) – elegance and visual unity totally gone. Remains of van Eyck’s setup: the benches and the little walls. Later: removed the black-and-white pics due to a copyright issue. The good people from Stadsarchief Amsterdam don’t go for creative licences.
