Last - but not least: the van Hogendorpplein. Much changed - fortunately the little house-like…
Van Eyck play furniture
The play furniture van Eyck designed was very simple, and their arraignment sparse but elegant. Most important design principle: it was the children that moved. The playground blended into its environment in a way we can only long for today. It was the children, and their parents, that brought colour and movement, that made the playgrounds come alive. The playgrounds very soon became an important nucleus in the social network of the time, strengthening the neighbourhood by getting people together in the out-of-doors.
Interesting to see that it is the benches that have withstood the ravages of time best.
