At de Paviljoens I was able to browse through a book I’ve lusted after for a long time: PIG 05049 by Christien Meindertsma. Being a butchers daughter, pigs featured in my yonger years as things to be cut up and turned into other things. Coming home from school I was usually set to make slavinken for the convenience of our customers. Ms Meindertsma spent energy and thought researching all the products made from a single pig, the single pig issue giving the project an endearing scale. So many uses for pig meat, bones, intestines, skin: astounding! The book is lovely & I’m going to get it as a birthday present.
