Telescopic generations
Tulips in decline – mold, aphids and all. Still beautiful!
So how did mold happen? Answer: mold spores travel through air. And how did the lice happen? The tulips are, after all, in my studio, so not easy to migrate to. Checked Wiki, and the sex life of the plant louse is just what one would expect: lousy. All those lice happen from one egg that was already on a tulip, or from a travelling female louse, a winged one. Once there, they reproduce without having sex at all. Most amazing: Some aphids have telescoping generations. That is, the female has a live daughter within her, who is already producing her own daughter. Check that for speed!
