May not be a household goddess
I may not be a household goddess – the point is, however, debatable – but I’ve proven myself to be a PC goddess today. The case was desperate and the little girl was depressed, despondent, dejected, discouraged, disheartened, despairing, disconsolate, dispirited, doleful, down, downcast, downhearted. And yes, I did use an online thesaurus for that. Anyway, her holidays have started and the little girl is badly in need of Something To Do.
So I decided to resurrect the game PC that’s died on us a year ago, and re-install a windows version that goes with ‘the Sims 3’, a game she’s had for ages but hasn’t been able to play due to the aforementioned computer problems. Resurrection wasn’t easy, but I managed in the end: wipe and re-partition computer, clean install of Windows XP (indeed: ancient), install the right drivers, solve a problem with the game login, download the game (that took 4 hours, would you believe …), install the game, find out that more drivers are needed, find those drivers on the ‘net, install them, then finally Sims started moving on the screen and little girl had something to skype with friends about.
