For my walks in Eemland I am looking for companions with interesting skill sets. To find a mushroom expert I went for a mushroom walk with Josephine from KNNV (The Royal Dutch Natural History Association). It was a lovely walk, and Iearned much about mushrooms and the people that love them. It was a wet-ish day, which brings out the best in mushrooms, and the wood was alive with the structures and scents of decay. All living things must go, it seems, sped on their way by mycellia – the underground ‘root’system’ of fungi.
