This is the Afsluitdijk seen from way above – a satellite’s view.  The idea of covering it with pluses suddenly seems to be much more daunting…..  I checked the english-language wiki to see if my terminology is anywhere near correct – did not do badly, but the Afsluitdijk is called a causeway not a dike.

Wiki tells about a ‘battle of the Afsluitdijk’ – which has not passed into Dutch legend, at least not any legend I know about.
